Description
An Ōtaki whānau/family has started a Waka Ama club. We follow them as they train, bless a waka/canoe, experience big competitions and meet their idols. We also learn what whanaungatanga can look like.
About the Author
Åsa came from Sweden to study for one year at Paraparaumu College. She met her partner, and they later settled in Raumati, raising two children bilingually. When returning to Sweden, Åsa teaches in a multicultural primary school. She currently works in a kindergarten on the Kapiti Coast and speaks Te Reo Māori as much as she can.
